Many new TLDs expected to come out of Europe

Costa Rica is excited about the upcoming ICANN meeting taking place there and the chance to be the “focus of the global internet community.”

There could be a lot of new TLDs coming out of Europe – do you think they will all make the cut?

Looks like there will be some competition for several new TLDs.  Will be interesting to see who ends up winning.

There may be a lot of new gTLDs introduced to the Web in the near future, but how many domain names will your company or organization need to register?  There’s not a exact answer, but check out United Domains’ take.

ICANN haz .youridentityhere

In an article entitled, “ICANN haz .youridentityhere,” Reuters.com highlights the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) intent to expand the “nameable Internet universe.”   The article states, “The web is just like real estate. There are only three things that matter: Location, location, and location. So the world shrugged when, in 2000, ICANN OK’d .aero, .biz, .coop, .info, .museum, .name and .pro. The .xxx top level domain got a lot of attention last year, but its time has pretty much passed. Really only .co, barely a year old, has shown any real oomph.”
